Meta.
i will explain to you some things about my site, how and why i made it.
"Hace un tiempo descubrí neocities y la gran comunidad de gente que aun hace sitios web por diversión. Me gustaron sus creaciones, así que decidí unirme 😈, espero sea de su agrado. La razón es que quería un sitio que puedo decorar como quiera y donde puedo compartir lo que sea. Aunque Cyberbanana también es un reto: crear una página con un diseño simple, y que sea visible en cualquier navegador."
^ in spanish because thats how i wrote it initially and i dont want to change it wooooo
technologies used
i code in the vscode editor. the reasons are: i was already familiar with it before getting into amateur webdev, html shortcuts that make everything much easier, and the live preview extension.
the site is written with vanilla html/css, there is some javascript but it is very minimal. the files are stored in a private git repository and updated using the deploy-to-neocities action.
design philosophy
initially, i tried to imitate the aesthetic of 2000s cute pixel web designs, but one day i found the masterpiece that is Motherfucking Website and changed my mind completely. i want my site to have a look and sense of "purity". the layout is simple so it can be translated to different screen sizes with minimal effort, this also makes it easier to maintain and update in the long run. another aspect i try to keep in mind is browser compatibility. This site is visible in any browser, you're welcome 😋
btw, if you think theres something about the site that could be improved in regards to readability or accesibility, please tell me!! you can write it on my guestbook or my neocities profile.
* the only exception to these rules are the shrine pages from The Gallery, since those are supposed to be more decorative, teehee.
there is a ""deeper"" reason for making a personal website
something something social media bad.
i dont know how to properly explain all the problems i have with the Internet, so instead i will direct you to someone who can say it way better than i can:
> A Manifesto to Return to Web 1.5 by artist and philosopher Cj the X.
special thanks
without these people, i wouldnt have found the motivation to start my own place on the web. they inspired me in one way or another.
- engrampixel (aka rotferkel): as someone who is gen z and didnt really get to Surf the Web as a child, seeing this site for the first time left me so amazed. i had never seen something to beautiful, this person is to blame for my interest in web design.
- cinni.net: a very popular webmaster. i dont remember how i found their site but i think this was my proper introduction to the indie web scene. what interested me the most was their writings on old web culture, particularly about old cute pixel websites. because of cinni, i created my neocities website.
- komaedalovemail: okay tbh this is kinda: Some Bullshit, but. it is actually one of my biggest inspirations... thanks to the people who worked on this, i learned that you can use the web to create strange art.
i hope you enjoyed this yapping. byeeee
